Samsung Dryer Troubleshooting Codes Explained

Voltage error codes: 9C1, 9E, 2E, and 9E1

Voltage error codes usually indicate there is something abnormal with the voltage being supplied to the dryer. This error could also show up if you take a model out of the country it was sold for, as power grids and their regulations vary between countries.

To resolve this error;

  • Ensure the dryer is on its circuit and not using an extension cord. The dryer uses a lot of energy. When plugged into an extension cord, it will not be able to get the required power to function properly.
  • If you’re using an electric dryer, confirm that the power cord has been installed properly and the correct voltage is being supplied.

Jammed button errors (bE, bE2, bC2, 6E, 6E2, 6C2)

These error codes will appears if one or more buttons on the panel is detected as stuck or being pushed in continuously. To clear this error code;

  • Power off the dryer
  • Check each of the buttons to see if they are damaged. You can touch and release every button on the panel as well. If you notice that any of the buttons are damaged, then the button or the entire panel will have to be replaced.
  • If none of the buttons are damaged, power on the dryer and check to see if the error codes are gone.
  • If the error code is still displayed or any of the buttons are damaged, visit the Samsung Support Center.

Door-Related errors (dC, dE, dF, do, d0, 1 DC, 1 dF)

Door-related error codes indicated a fault in the door, its latch, and the sensors that detect whether they’re secured correctly. You will notice these codes when the door isn’t closed or won’t latch properly.

To clear the error code;

  • Check if laundry or other items are caught in the door, and inspect the latch if it is securely fixed. If the door latch does not fit into the slot correctly, then it would have to be repaired or replaced.
  • Fixing the latch requires a visit to your technician.

Temperature errors (tS, t5, tC, tO, t0, tE, tE3, tC5, tCS, 1 tC, 1tC5, 1tCS)

These error codes indicate a temperature problem or an issue with the sensors that monitor the temperature. IN most cases, you would be dealing with a clogged lint screen or vent system trapping heat in the dry.

To clear these error codes;

  • Locate the lint screen/filter, take it out, and clean it. Return the lint screen/filter back into the dryer
  • Disconnect the vent system from the dryer. Vacuum it out to remove any blockage of lint. Once clean, put it back together.
  • With both components cleaned, turn your dryer back on, and check if the error code has gone.
  • If the error code remains, you will have to get a qualified technician to inspect your Samsung dryer.

Heating errors (HC, hE, HC4, 1 HC)

Heating error codes indicate that the dryer is getting too hot or overheating.

To clear these error codes;

  • Located the lint screen/filter, take it out, and clean it.

Communication errors (AC, Et, AE, EEE, AE4, AE3, AE5, E3, 1 AC)

When these error codes pop up, it means your dryer’s internal components are unable to communicate with each other.

To resolve these error codes,

  • Turn your dryer off for 60 seconds
  • Turn it back on and check if the error code is solved
  • If the code remains, you will have to contact the Samsung service center to diagnose the cause of the error code and fix it.

Frequency errors (FC, FE, 1 FC)

Frequency error codes indicate an inconsistent power source. Fixing this code would require restarting the drying cycle. However, if that doesn’t work, then you would have to speak to Samsung Customer service.

Vent Blockage test results (Clg, Cl9, Cg, C9, C80, C8o, C8, C90, C9o, Ct)

These error codes will only appear after a Vent Blockage test has been run. To run the test,

  • Make sure the drum is empty and then close the door. Removing laundry from the drum will improve your chances of getting accurate results.
  • Press “POWER” to turn the dryer on and within 5 seconds, press and hold “Adjust Time Up + Dry Level until Ins or In appears on the display. If these combinations don’t work, try “Cycle 1 + Wrinkle Prevent” or “Air Fluff + Wrinkle Prevent”
  • Press and hold START/PAUSE to start the Vent Blockage test. This lasts for about 2 minutes. Do not open the door during the test.
  • Once the test is complete, the results will be displayed.

The results could be:

  • 0 or End: The duck system is normal and unblocked.
  • Clg, Cg – This indicates that the vent is clogged.
  • C80, C8 – This indicates that about 80% of the vent is clogged.
