Connect With Web Browser Setup
Setting up your Netgear EX2700 with web browser is the best option if you’re using WEP security which is not compatible with WPS. It is also a great option if you want to skip on WPS altogether
To use a web browser:
- Use a WiFi network manager on a computer or WiFi device to find and connect to the extender WiFi network NETGEAR_EXT. After connecting to the computer or WiFi device, the Device Link LED should light up.
- Launch the web browser
- In the web address area, enter www.mywifiext.net. The New Extender Setup page will be displayed.
- Click the New Extender Setup button. You will be required to create an account. Click the log in tab to Create Your Account
- Complete the fields and click the NEXT button
- Select a WiFi network to extend and click the NEXT button
- In the Password (Network Key) field, type the existing WiFi network password (also called security key) and click the NEXT button.
- Set the network (SSID) and password for your new extender WiFi network and click the NEXT button. Wait for the page to display the available extended WiFi networks. This could take a few minutes.
- Connect the computer or WiFi device to the new extended WiFi network using the extender SSID and the password you created in the steps above. If you want to connect additional devices, simply repeat this step.
- Ensure that your computer or WiFi device is connected before you click the Continue button
- Click the continue button. A message will pop up confirming that the extender is connected and ready.
- Click the Next button to go to the registration page
- Complete the registration fields and click the Finish button to complete the setup. You can Skip Registration if you do not want to register your extender. However, you can only use NETGEAR telephone support when your extender is registered.
- Once registered, you will be taken to the Status page. You can unplug the extender and move it to a new location that is about halfway between your router and the area with a poor router WiFi signal. Ensure the area you choose is within the range of your existing WiFi router network.
- Plug the extender into an electrical outlet and wait for the Power LED to light green. If this doesn’t happen, press the Power On/Off button.
- Use the Router Link LED to help you choose a spot where the extender-to-router connection is optimal
- If the Router Link LED doesn’t light amber or green, plug the extender into an outlet closer to the router and try again. If it still doesn’t work, keep moving the extender to outlets closer to the router until the Router Link LED lights amber or green.
- Reconnect your computer or WiFi device to the new extended WiFi network
- Test the extended WiFi range by moving your computer or WiFi device to the area where you noticed a poor router WiFi signal
- Leave the computer or WiFi device in the area and return to the extender
- Check the Device Link LED on the extender.
- If the Device Link LED is solid green or amber, it means that the WiFi network covers the area with a poor router WiFi signal and your network setup is complete, however, if the Device Link LED is red, it means that the WiFi network does not reach the area. You must more the computer or WiFi device a bit closer to the extender until the Device Link LED turns solid green or amber.
