If your Ring Doorbell is continuously connected to WiFi, there are several reasons for this. Before reconnecting the Ring Doorbell back to WiFi, you might want to find out why this happens.
Why Ring Doorbells Get Disconnected From Wi-Fi
- There are several reasons why your Ring Doorbell gets disconnected from Wi-Fi
- Your battery level is low
- Your router has too many obstacles in its path (it’s in a closet or behind a piece of furniture)
- Your WiFi network name changed and/or your WiFi network password was changed.
- Your WiFi network was upgraded from a 2.4GHz to a 5 GHz network and your Ring device can’t find the 5 GHz network because your device is not compatible with the network. You can check if your Ring device is compatible with 5GHz.
- Your WiFi network has special characters or symbols in it such as a pound sign (#) or exclamation mark (!). Check your router’s documentation for instructions on changing your password.
- Check if your wires have become loose
- Check your breaker box for a blown fuse. You might need to reset the device at the breaker.

Reset the Router and Modem
If the Ring doorbell is not able to connect to WiFi and the battery level or power source is adequate, then you might want to check if the router and modem are working properly. Resetting the router and modem should solve this problem.
- Unplug your modem and router. Ensure they’re completely disconnected from power’
- Wait for a few minutes and keep the devices unplugged.
- Plug the modem back into the wall and wait till the lights come on. This should take a few minutes. Wait until it is fully connected to the network before you add the router.
- Plug the router back in. Wait till the lights come on so you can tell the signal is working
- Perform a speed test using your PC and phone to confirm that your upload, download, and ping are as expected.
- Reset the Router and Modem
If you’re still having trouble connecting or you’re noticing a weak connection, then you might consider reconnecting your router and modem.
To do this
- Unplug the modem and router. You should completely disconnect them from your power supply.
- Wait for a few minutes while the devices remain unplugged
- Plug the modem back into the power source and wait for the lights to come up. Wait for several minutes for the modem to load up and connect to the network before you add the router.
- Plug the router back in. Watch out for the lights and wait for all the lights to come in so that you can tell the signal is working.
- You might want to perform a speed test on your PC or phone to ensure that your upload, download, and ping are working as expected.
To get your Ring devices to work properly, you need download and upload speeds of at least 2 MB. If you have a slow connection, your ring doorbell might not function properly. You need to speak to your ISP to upgrade your network to get better network speeds.
Check Your Wireless Type
Today, you cans choose between a 2.4 GHz or a 5 GHz network, however, you should only use the network that is compatible with your Ring device. If you’re using a 5 GHz network and your Ring doorbell only supports 2.4 GHz connection, it could prevent the device from connecting.
Check if your router allows you to operate a network on the lower band. If not, then you might want to switch the network when you change the Ring’s wireless network.
